          		Who is this course for?
    		Students wanting to develop their oral and written communication skills for a range of audiences and purposes. This subject cultivates an appreciation and understanding of a range of texts, and the ability to respond to these in a variety of forms.
      
        		  What will I learn?
      	The course is divided into three areas:
- Responding to Texts: Students produce two responses to shared texts, including short stories, persuasive texts, and film. One of these texts is an oral or multimodal response. 
 
 
- Creating Texts: Students produce examples of two different forms of writing with an accompanying writer's statement.
 
 
- Comparative Analysis: Students complete a written comparative analysis of two independent texts.
How will I be assessed?
    		School Assessment: 70%
- Assessment Type 1: Responding to Texts (30%) (one task must be written and one oral/multimodal)
- Assessment Type 2: Creating Texts (40%) (one task must be written and one oral/multimodal)
External Assessment: 30%
- Assessment Type 3: Comparative Analysis - (30%)
Students who complete 20 credits of Stage 2 English with a C– grade or better will meet the literacy requirement of the SACE.
